Avalon Park Veteran's Memorial Garden

Veteran's Memorial Garden.jpg

On May 27, 2019, the Cadets of Girl Scout Troop 4638, dedicated the Avalon Park Veteran’s Memorial Garden to the community of Avalon Park, in Orlando, FL.  These young ladies started what would become a 2-year project in order to achieve their Girl Scouts Silver Award. They spent countless hours planning, designing and fundraising in order to turn an unkept community garden into a space that could be used by all in the community to reflect and pay their respect to those men and women who are currently serving, who have served and to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to this country. With the help of many community partners, family, friends and volunteers from the community, the Veteran’s Memorial Garden came to life.

Now that the Girl Scout Troop has completed the garden, they have turned over its continued care to the American Legion Avalon Park Post 409. The American Legion Post will continue to maintain the garden so that this space can always be used as a space to honor our men and women of the Armed services.
